Brian Martin is a professional children’s book illustrator and writer based in Richmond, Virginia. He has illustrated more than 250 children’s books, collaborating with publishers and independent authors to transform their stories and characters into imaginative visual worlds.
As the illustrator of the Silly Animal Limericks™ series, Brian brings Rod Thoma’s whimsical and madcap animal characters to life through delightfully zany, colorful, full-spread illustrations. His expressive characters, playful visual details and wonderfully ridiculous scenes add another layer of storytelling to every limerick, giving young readers plenty to discover with each return visit.

A Note from Rod
Brian’s illustrations are such an important part of Silly Animal Limericks™. I am always excited to see the first sketches, and even more excited when the full-color illustrations arrive and I get to watch him breathe life into my limerick stories.
The books simply would not work the same way without his artwork alongside the rhymes. Brian has a wonderful ability to add subtle humor, expressive character moments, and little visual surprises that give each page more depth, personality, and laugh-out-loud appeal.
He is friendly, professional, creative, and genuinely funny, which makes him a joy to work with. I am grateful for everything he brings to the series, and I hope we have the chance to work together on future projects after the Silly Animal Limericks™ picture book series is complete.
